About Big Daddy

Big Daddy is a Minecraft server that has been running off and on since 2012.

• Pentium 4 Optiplex GX260 with 512 megabytes of RAM running desktop Ubuntu
• Faster Pentium 4 HP with a whole 4 gigs(!) of RAM that was running desktop Lubuntu ("server operating system")
• A mighty AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics in an old laptop with a broken screen I found. Has 4 gigs of RAM too. Most importantly, it was running a legitimate server OS because I finally learned to not fear the CLI.

  Retired in March of 2020 because it just couldn't keep up with modern versions of Minecraft

• Currently, it is an an Optiplex (back to where we started) with an i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz and 12gb of RAM

  Wow Big Daddy has decent hardware now! I even put in a SSD! Truely these are the end of times.

Interactive Map

The map (link on the left) updates every night at 2 AM MST.

If the first character of a sign is "!", the sign will appear in the online map.

Commands you can use

I'm not going to try and keep an up-to-date list.

Just run the /help command an you will see all of the commands you have permission to use.

Bedrock

Now you can connect to the Java server with a Bedrock client! (phones, xbox)

Instructions:

1. Visit link.geysermc.org in the Java edition
2. Run the /linkaccount command, write down the code it tells you.
3. Leave the server in the Java edition
4. Sign into the same server above in the Bedrock edition
5. Run the /linkaccount command again, using the code it tells you.
6. Sign into Big Daddy in Bedrock, it should connect it with your Java/Mojang account

Remember that this plugin that allows you to sign in with your bedrock client is experimental and you will have issues with it. Still pretty cool though!
